New Releases from La Curio and the Alternative Crew Tasting
3 November 2009
La Curio...
As a retailer, we tend to have some favourite producers, which isn’t a bad thing as it implies consistency. So it comes as no surprise that another year has rolled by and we welcome back the wines of La Curio. The wines consistently blow us away for their sheer appeal and vivaciousness and once again Adam Hooper has created wines of personality and true fruit expression. Continuing his on-going passion to source premium McLaren Vale fruit, from vineyards that are extremely low yielding, that are minimally irrigated to produce fruit with an abundance of varietal character. Some of the parcels of fruit have been sourced from local bush vines which are approximately eighty years of age. Our pick this year, as is most years, is the ‘fresh as a daisy’ Nubile. So lifted and cheerful, this blend of Grenache & Shiraz is phenomenal value…

This weekend we have our second tasting in the Varietal Series, checking out the Alternatives...
Saturday the 7th of November, 12-4pm - 'The Alternative Crew'
This is a glance at the new wave varieties coming to Australia by vine and bottle. The day is a chance to look at varieties like Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Gruner Veltliner and the sorts. Quite simply this booze is, "so hot right now" and once again we have some fantastic examples on show. Featuring local and imported wines from the likes of Some Young Punks, First Drop, Spinifex, Pichot and Emmerich Knoll, this is a great way to see how far the industry has grown.
