The 2009 Adelaide Review Hot 100 and the Champagne and Friends Tasting.

11 November 2009

A big thank you to all that braved the heat for our alternative tasting last Saturday (which wasn't hot at all compared to this week!) We have had great feedback from many of you and concur the line up was fantastic, plus it was great to see some Aussie alternative varieties performing so well against the 'old-world' favourites.

Now it is on to the next instalment, and the tasting that many of you have been most interested in...

Saturday the 21st of November, 12-4pm - 'Champagne and Friends'

The title really does speak for itself but just to get you excited, we will be featurting many Champagne producers, including some of the fantastic "Growers Champagnes" that we have been enjoying incessantly over the past few Summers. Whilst your thinking Champagne why not try our current "Wine of the Month" the Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs NV @ $88 a bottle

The NV Larmandier Blanc de Blancs embodies elegance - think classic 50’s black and white movies, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly drinking out of those ridiculous old Champagne glasses… This is a very polished effort with delicate notes of apples and striking floral notes. An honest and pure expression of superb Chardonnay fruit with little intervention.

The 2009/10 Adelaide Review Hot 100 is now out. This years selection panel was chaired by world famous wine writer/judge Andrew Jefford and also included last years winner Peter Schell (Spinifex Wines), amongst many other great Adelaide winemakers, sommelier's and industry leaders.

The Hot 100 dozen is your chance to taste some of the best SA has to offer, with some crisp and crunchy whites to some dark and dynamic reds, all for only $260. Included is the "Wine of the Year"; the 2008 Yalumba FDW 7 Chardonnay.

To purchase your dozen or find out more check it out the Hot 100 online, or contact us by either e-mail, wine@eastendcellars.com.au or phone 08 8232 5300.
