Wendouree Mixed Dozen

Iconic Aussie producer Wendouree are just about the release their 2008 vintage, and instead of keeping it all for ourselves we are offering this highly sought after wine as part of a mixed dozen. If you are familiar with Wendouree you will know how hard it can be to get your hands on these wines, so this is one of those rare opportunities to secure them.

In the mixed dozen you will find;

2 x Shiraz Mataro, 2 x Shiraz Malbec, 2 x Shiraz, 2 x Malbec, 2 x Cabernet, 2 x Cabernet Malbec

The wines will only be sold in this mixed dozen and they will sell out quickly so if they are of interest do not hesitate - numbers are miniscule. The wines are due to arrive in the next few weeks, however to secure your dozen we require payment upfront.

Purchase the 2008 Wendouree Mixed Dozen online, or send us an e-mail.

Hahndorf Hill New Releases and Tasting

Here's a company on the rise and doing it their own way. Not your typical Adelaide Hills producer, Hahndorf Hill are specializing in alternative, food-friendly varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Grigio and Blaufränkisch. We have just secured a small allocation of their 2008 Blaufränkisch of which only 150 dozen is produced... and we think it is a winner! For those of you that are unfamiliar with this native Austrian variety, UK wine guru Jancis Robinson  has referred to this blueblooded varietal as the 'Pinot Noir of Eastern Europe'. The Hahndorf Hill interpretation demonstrates spicy and perfumed violet tones along with dark fruits slipping around in a sinuous manner. Think Pommard meets Dolcetto. A perfect wine for your next dinner party or if you simply want to delve in to this fascinating varietal.

We will have the Hahndorf Hill wines on tasting this Friday the 23rd of July from 5-7pm - featuring the Blaufrankisch, Pinot Grigio, Shiraz etc. So why not drop by and check them out.

Can't make the tasting but still want to try the wines? Have a look at the Hahndorf Hill selection on our website.

Vietti New Releases and Dinner

These guys are one of our favourite producers, and once again have produced some stunning new releases. Whilst their whole range is worthy, we thought we'd mention three that are tickling our taste buds for the right price.

2009 Vietti Moscato d'Asti Cascinetta 750ml @ $37

This Moscato is surely one of the best going around. This is a wine for every occasion and every hour of the day. A perfect balance of all you want in a Moscato with delicate fruit flavours, lifted acidity and an attractive sweet finish. A bright wine from start to finish.

2007 Vietti Perbacco Nebbiolo Langhe @ $50

Year after year this has been one of our most loved wines amongst staff & customers and the 2007 is no exception. Luca Currado has once again created a masterpiece for the Perbacco of which he hails as the worlds best value Nebbiolo around and who are we to disagree.

"Offers up generous fruit along with menthol, spices and hard candy, showing notable intensity while retaining an essentially mid-weight style. Round, suave tannins add to the long and refined finish."  from Vietti's website

If 750ml is just not enough, we have a very small allocation of '07 Perbacco Magnums!

2006 Vietti Castiglione Barolo @ $125

If the hype of the 2006 Piedmont vintage and the amazing value of this Barolo has not already convinced you to try this wine hopefully the kind words from Antonio Galloni (eRobertParker) will sway you...

"The 2006 Barolo Castiglione is frighteningly outstanding, considering it is Vietti’s entry-level Barolo! There is incredible density and power in the glass as waves of fruit caress the palate with tons of richness. Sweet menthol, flowers and spices add complexity to the long, stupendous finish. In 2006 the Barolo Castiglione is a blend of fruit from Bricco Fiasco (except for the lower part of that plot), Ravera, Fossati and Bricco Ravera. All of the estate’s Barolo-designated vineyards that weren’t bottled separately were used for that vintage’s Perbacco, a selection process I wrote about extensively in my recent profile on Vietti on www.erobertparker.com. The Barolo Castiglione is usually approachable pretty much upon release, but in 2006 the wine has so much fatness it will probably benefit from a few years in bottle. Barolo is never inexpensive, but the Castiglione is as good a wine as readers will find for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026."
Antonio Galloni (February, 2010)
