Autumn Mixed Dozen, new Koltz Pagan and a Piedmont Tasting

24 February 2012

Autumn Mixed Dozen

As we move passed Adelaide's "Mad March" the shop starts filling with an array of new wines. So what better time to put together our Autumn mixed dozen. For this pack we have chosen some brilliant new releases that have made their way onto our shelves; wines of great value that are perfectly suited for a season delivering ultimate weather... for drinking fine wine. As always we have wines from all over the world, built around quite a few new producers and some hidden gems that we have sought out. Covering an array of varieties from Pinot and Shiraz/Cabernet to Dolcetto and Touriga, we have spanned the globe featuring Spain, Italy, Greece and of course Australia.

There is something for everyone and, with over 20% off the normal retail price of $320, this mixed dozen can be yours for only $255, including delivery to your door, anywhere in Australia.

Koltz 'the Pagan' Shiraz

The 'Pagan' has landed! Koltz Wines has built a loyal band of followers over the last decade and the 'Pagan' Shiraz is the main reason behind this; this 'Amarone' style is a great balance of 'old world vs new world'. A selection of hand-picked Shiraz from winemaker Mark Day's Blewitt Springs vineyard has been dried on racks for six weeks in the Italian “appasimento” style. These dark, shrivelled little raisins yield a complex, layered wine. Super rich and super intense, that also shows a dark, intricate side with a savoury edge and superb tannin completing the package.

Purchase the 2010 Koltz 'the Pagan' Shiraz online, or order via e-mail at wine@eastendcellars.com.au or give us a call on 08 8232 5300. But don't delay as it sells out quickly...

Parusso Tasting

Tuesday the 3rd of April in the EEC Cellar, 7-8:30pm - $30

Fans of all things Piedmont, this is a tasting not to miss... We are certainly keen to see these new players perform, so on the 3rd of April, we will be running through the wines of Parusso. Whilst the wines of Armando Parusso are quite new to Australia, the family have been producing stunning liquid for four generations. They have created an intelligent balance of the classic versus modern approach we are seeing in Barolo at the moment, and all with organic fruit. We are pretty big fans of Piedmont and all that it encompasses.  So when a new producer is offering to showcase their wines, we are not going to say no.

We will be tasting the following wines;
’10 Rosato
‘10 Dolcetto d'Alba
’10 Barbera d'Alba
’09 Langhe Nebbiolo
’07 Barolo
’07 LeCoste Barolo
’07 Bussia Barolo
’07 Mariondino Barolo
’01 Bussia Barolo (museum stock)

Tickets are limited and only $30… get in quick. You can purchase a ticket online or send us an e-mail to wine@eastendcellars.com.au or even give us a call on 08 8232 5300
