A Super Tuscan...
18 February 2008
Tenuta di Biserno has only been on the scene for a few years now, but has already made a strong impression with the East End Cellars team.
Formely known as Campo di Sasso, these wines are a joint venture between two legends of the Italian wine industry; Lodovico and Piero Antinori. Tenuta di Biserno is located in the hills of Bibona, on the border of the appellation of Bolgheri. Ludovico, the man behind the almighty Bolgheri Estate - Tenuta dell’ Ornellaia (before selling it a few years ago) has stepped out to showcase his talent and dabble with a style of wine that put his name so firmly on everyone's mind.
Piero, the icon vintner of Tuscany created the concept of Super Tuscan wines in the 70‘s with his reds, Tignanello and Solaia being made with 'Bordeaux varieties'; Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and small offerings of Petit Verdot. There are some special people helping with this label but one name springs up... Michel Rolland - world-renowned oenologist and consultant. Tenuta di Biserno has a recipe for success brewing away and we are very excited for what is now, and what is to come.
Currently Tenuta di Biserno only bring two wines into Australia, but what amazing wines they are, the Il Pino and Insolglio. The latter being Febuary's "Wine of the Month"! There are only very small allocations of both wines and they are very likely to sell out quickly especially considering both are from such great vintages, basically what we are saying is don't delay.
