07 Giaconda Chardonnay, plus more David LeMire MW courses!
15 April 2008
Hello all....
Well it's usually around this time of the year we offer one of the countries most sought after pre-arrival campaigns, from one of Australia's greatest producers: Giaconda. Unfortunately there will be no offer as such for the 2007 vintage, as the fruit was not up to the quality Rick Kinzbrunner demands. However, he did feel the Chardonnay fruit was up to scratch - blended from both the Estate vineyard and their Nantua vineyard. Plus there is a bonus for anyone who missed out on the 2006 Warner Shiraz from last years offer; we have secured more of one of the finest shiraz in the country!
2007 Giaconda Estate & Nantua Vineyards Chardonnay @ $85 a bottle
"This is the only white wine that will be released from the 2007 vintage. Due to the limited quantities produced we have decided to blend the Chardonnay from the Estate Vineyard and Nantua Vineyard together with the Aeolia(Roussanne). It is 89% Chardonnay and 11% Roussanne. Interesting aromas of meal, melon and matchstick with underlying hints of jasmine from the small Roussanne component.Generous fruit on the palate, however still tight with a backbone of minerality and balancing acidity.Long stylish finish with the ability to develop complexity in the classic Giaconda style."
2006 Giaconda Warner Shiraz @ $85
"Very Rhone-like nose, exhibiting what seems to be evolving as our signature nose of charcuterie, graphite and brambles. This has real depth of aroma. Fine palate, fresh spicy rich fruit characters. Underlying power emerging; finishing with balanced firm, fine tannins. A great follow on to the 2005, properly stored this should last for decades."
For an order please contact wine@eastendcellars.com.au and we will get back to you shortly with confirmation.
The wines will arrive mid next month, with the 2006 Pre-Arrival Giaconda's.
We are also pleased to announce more tastings with David LeMire MW. Once again they will be held upstairs at Chianti Classico, if you are interested please do not delay as they sell out quickly.

July 1st - White Burgundy - $195 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm
A personal favourite, the wines of Chablis, Puligny Montrachet, and Corton Charlemagne, among others, show the brilliant results of a perfect match between the Chardonnay grape, the Burgundian landscape and climate, and both fastidious and inspired winemaking. Blessed with some wonderful vineyards, Burgundian winemakers leave no piece of limestone unturned in their quest to make sublime white wines, with purity of fruit, intensity of flavour, and restrained elegance all vying for attention.
