Great New Bargains!
15 May 2008
With vintage conditions seemingly getting harder every year one would think the selling price of wine would be sky rocketing, yet there are still some great bargains to be found...
Those of you familiar with Killibinbin wines and the great value they represent will be happy to know there is a new wine in the lineup. Hot on the heels of the ever popular Sandtrap Shiraz comes the 2004 Killibinbin Cellar Release Blend # 2 at $15 a bottle it is a stonking Shiraz Cabernet blended from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek fruit.
Another cracker to drop by the shop recently is the 2007 Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz also at $15 a bottle. Last year's wine flew out of the store and we don't think this will take long either. Great colour and flavour, the savoury, more open texture that Eden Valley brings to Shiraz and some smartly restrained winemaking.
We are down to our last stocks of one of our favourite bargain reds, the 2006 Rolf Binder Shiraz at $16 a bottle - for those of you yet to try... Do yourself a favour, this wasn't our top selling Shiraz from 2007 for no reason.
And lastly another wine that has been around for a while now but a recent re-visit reminded us why the 2004 Guigal Cote-du-Rhone at only $19 a bottle is one of the greatest bargains world wide!

This is a little cracker. Domenic Torzi does a lot of things on his property at Mount McKenzie - including bread, olive oil, pasta and wine. And he does them all well. Schist Rock is junior sibling to his Frost Dodger Shiraz and is an absolute bargain and a fine drink.......

Talk about Bang for your Buck... Hot off the heels of the ever popular Killibinbin Sandtrap comes the Cellar Release Blend No.2.
"The 2004 Cabernet (62%) - Shiraz (38%) 'Cellar Reserve' is purple-colored with an attractive perfume of cedar, smoke, blackberry, and blueberry. Thick and ripe on the palate, the wine is layered, round, balanced, and long. It can be enjoyed over the next 6 years."
