Sweet wine makers rarely get the reward they deserve for making wines that are among the most difficult to make, with heightened risk at every step of the process. Fortunately they keep testing the limits of winemaking, dealing with the elusive noble rot, trying to ferment juice with incredibly high sugar levels, and at times achieving brilliant wines of intensity and power. This tasting looks at Sauternes, but also at other important styles like Tokaji from Hungary, Vin Santo from Tuscany, and new styles like Gewurztraminer from New Zealand.
