S. C. Pannell Sauvignon Blanc (2007)

S. C. Pannell Sauvignon Blanc

Fruit for this excellent new savvy comes from Scott Hicks vineyard in Kuitpo, high in the hills directly behind McLaren Vale. Steve Pannell has a huge a reputation for reds (think Jimmy Watson Trophy), however this new release shows that there are many strings to this talented winemakers bow. Balance is the key here. We see plenty of green bean, fresh herb and gooseberry character, but there is also some lifted tropical fruit and delicate hints of citrus. In the mouth the wine is seamless, a myriad of fruit salad, herbs and some savoury character keeping it complex and interesting. The palate is tight, fresh and dry. I can see this wine becoming a favourite over the coming spring months. Stock limited.
