Groom Sauvignon Blanc (2009)

This wine seems to be getting better with each successive release, quite an achievement considering the lofty standards Daryl Groom sets with his winemaking. With this wine, the typically green character of savvy is beautifully balanced by the ripe tropical fruits and hints of citrus that fill out the mid-palate.

Off the back of the 2008 vintage where Groom was scored James Halliday’s highest rating Sauvignon Blanc, the ‘09 takes the label another step forward. This is all about consistency; there is nothing thin and overt about this wine. It illustrates great poise and balance with understated Sauvignon Blanc characters of cut grass and tropical fruit.
