Cirillo 1850 Grenache (2004)

Cirillo 1850 Grenache

When less is more. Old vines, low yields, ripe fruit, great care. Sounds like a simple recipe. The oldest Grenache vines in Australia would certainly help. Especially if you've tended them for thirty five years. Gentle hands to nurture the fruit from pruning through picking and fermentation into bottle. 24 months in seasoned oak and 12 months in bottle before release have tamed it somewhat but at 16.4% alcohol this is no shrinking violet - and no bad wine either.
