Searched for 'spinifex' in 'all fields'
This year we welcome a dark horse to the Spinifex stables, the 'Bete Noir'. Beast by name and by nature, it is a pure example of Barossa Shiraz. Incredibly tight at the start, it opens after a good decant to reveal sweet Plum compote and dark chocolate which is kept in check with a lovely acid structure giving length and life to the wine. A great start for the new baby brother in this classy family.

A new name, but the same style remains. This wine is pure class, with seemless Shiraz fruit blending in subtle fashion with a dash Viognier. The aromatics of the Viognier stand out on the nose where floral notes meet a dash of pepper. The Shiraz fruit is vibrant in colour and taste, displaying spicy blackberries lifted with bouncy acidity, all travelling backwards on the palate. A very polished effort and definitely one for the cellar.

A very traditional blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Negra Mole, Tinta Cao and Tinta Roiz, this is an astonishing little fortified from Spinifex. Great texture and sweet spot, with a beautiful dry finish of great length.

Surely the jewell in the crown for these guys... The latest 'Esprit' has some astonishing, rich, long and endearing fruit. It shows some dark fruits while still upholding the savoury edge which defines this wine year after year. The '08 is once again a great follow up to the reputation this wine has built. The length on this wine will keep you entertained for hours.

After a year in hiding the 'Indigene' comes back bigger and badder then ever. This year, a slight touch of Grenache helps to get the party started. Following the highly awarded 2006, it was always going to be a tough job to make this year's 'Indigene' but it continues down the dark and sinister path that makes this wine stand out. It drinks the way it has been constructed, with layers of fruit opening up the further you delve into the glass. The touch of Grenache brightens up the dark Mataro whilst the Shiraz keeps them all in line. This is seriously good booze!

Not the most conventional blend out there - but it works so well. This wine is all about the texture with a sensational mouth feel complementing great flavours of dried cherries and fleshy blackberries. There is a slight lean towards the Spanish dominate Tempranillo with flashes of that classic cherry cola. The sweetness of this fruit is controlled well by the dry and herbaceous Cabernet and Carignan with plenty of tannin to boot.
