Ignore the blend, as it doesn’t really dictate the style and enjoy this red for the sheer flavour. Here we see 41% Carignan and 32% Tempranillo with 27% Cabernet supporting the rear. An unusual combo but one that works so well; the nose displays a peachy, cola, cedar, cassis, context - moving to the palate you can see terrific acidity matched by freshly picked blackcurrants and toasty oak. Not the most conventional blend out there - but it works so well. This wine is all about the texture with a sensational mouth feel complementing great flavours of dried cherries and fleshy blackberries. There is a slight lean towards the Spanish dominate Tempranillo with flashes of that classic cherry cola. The sweetness of this fruit is controlled well by the dry and herbaceous Cabernet and Carignan with plenty of tannin to boot. [ Read more ]
